7 Arts Antiques and Gift Shop was originally opened in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, by my grandmother, Harriet Sossner back in 1966. It was a rich collection of Americana, family history, Tiffany Glass and sterling, as well as other collectibles uncovered by the thousands of tag sales, house sales, and flea markets. Stockbridge and the other parts of Berkshire County was a remarkable collection of artists, authors, actors, and locals who often mixed at Tanglewood, The Music Inn, Jacobs Pillow, or the Stockbridge Theater Festival. The hometown of Norman Rockwell, who was a regular neighbor who walked over to delivered hand-signed prints for Harriet to sell in the Antique Shoppe. "The store" was frequently visited by some of the leading performing artists in the 1960s,1970s and 1980s. It was a "happening place" as Harriet held court sitting at her famous roll-top desk watching the sidewalks of Stockbridge with her dog, Tiffany by her side. With great sadness, the Haver family sold the "Antique Shop Building" in 2021. And end of an era. In her honor I started this website to share memories of Harriet, the store and sell some of my personal collection of antiques and collectibles.
Early on, my whole family worked as buyers for 7 Arts Antiques going to Flea Markets, Auctions, Tag Sales, Auctions, House Sales, etc. It was both an adventure and a challenge to find items that would sell in the Stockbridge store. Harriet's sons Sandy Haver and Thomas Haver were her lead advocates and buyers- bringing their sons into the family business.
Kyle : I started working with my Grandma Harriet in her Antique Store at a very young age. She taught me how to look at each item carefully, how to notice small markings and signatures. In all, I worked with her from 1967 until her passing in 1986. I continued to work with my uncle Tom Haver...and now, many years later, I am ready to let go of some of these remarkable items (and memories!) Please check out the 7 Arts Collection below.
7 Arts Antiques.com has a limited collection of the remaining collection of this renowned shop along with other antiques and collectibles that I purchased from my grandmother's store. Each item has a unique story. And each piece comes from or has been acquired in hopes that I may continue in my grandmother's steps. Thank you for stopping and stepping-back in HerStory as you revisit the last remaining items from Seven Arts Antiques.
