The famous ( and infamous) Office Obie, the Police Chief of Stockbridge MA. Known for playing himself in Arthur Penn's movie with Arlo Guthrie, Alice's Restaurant, he was often a fixture on Main Street Stockbridge maintaining the peace and serving as the personal guide to the many famous people who came to Norman Rockwell for their portraits. Alice's Resturant was just around the alley from 7 Arts Antiques. The Haver family were frequent lunchtime visitors at Alice's getting her famous Borst and huge sandwiches which we bought back to eat by the ol' roll-top desk. In the 1960s, Harriet along with her sons Sandy and Tom purchased an old girls scout camp on Lake Buel and rebranded it as a bohemian guest lodge with cabins. Aimed to the "downtown NYC" hip crowd, 7 Arts was developed as an inexpensive way to enjoy all the arts the Berkshires had to offer.... "THE SEVEN ARTS" and so much more! Even though my family sold it's iconic building in Stockbridge, Ma. our grandmother's Antique Store and our memories will be maintained on this website.
